Welcome to the ISOverse!
The ISOverse started as the conceptualization of a comic book universe 21 years ago. Since then, it's evolved to be a sort of catch-all term for my voyage through afrofuturism.
Writing - more aptly, literature - is a freedom technology. It was only a matter of time before I learned to speak to computers. Part of my praxis is expanding my own agency. To an afrofuturist, that means respecting one's internal world enough to learn how to make it corporeal. And so, I'm here to speak "in tech" to democratize its usefulness.
Welcome to the blog where I'll document this journey! In a way, you're writing right along with me...
This is how I feel when I'm writing code

"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles." - Sun Tzu
I'm a Memphian. My ethics dictate I leave these truths below:
+ Elon Musk is a fascist and a troll.
+ AI is a tool and its usefulness is only found in the balance between human actualization and Interconnectedness as understood by Ivone Gebara.
+ If we can't find that balance, AI shouldn't be used.
+ Technology is a tool designed to facilitate community agency. As such, Small Tech is the way to go.
The literacy gap is real. I've witnessed it working with youth and adults in Memphis. Without the ability to critically understand what we consume, we become slaves to the emotions our objects of consumption evoke. Then we become blind to reason. Our empathy atrophies. And when that happens, fascism creeps.
Inequitable systemic conditions --> Low literacy --> Lowered capacity for critical thinking --> Less empathy --> Easier to manipulate --> Community discord --> The powers that be justify their positions --> Inequitable systemic conditions
Our systems are accountable for the cycles they sustain. So, how can I use AI and computer technologies to facilitate critical thinking within, by, and for Memphis? As of 8/29/26 (my birthday!), this is my guiding question for this work. I ask that you hold me accountable while giving me room to grow!
